Character Sun Signs

Do you ever think about the sun signs of the characters in the books you read or the shows you watch? I do, and I always know my main characters’ sun signs when I write them. Not to be superstitious, but it’s a fun exercise, and one way to develop characters on the page. If you’ve read my books and are curious, here are the sun signs of all the major characters!

FLOWER AND THORN
Out 17 October 2023

A young flower hunter must retrieve the rarest and most powerful magical flower after giving it to the wrong hands. Betrayal, politics, intrigue and magic! (25% off if you pre-order the hardcover from Barnes & Noble between 6-8 September.)

Irinya: Virgo, The Maiden. Our flower hunter is kind, sincere, efficient, and idealistic. She lives in a broken world, and all she wants to do is fix it. She might be naïve, but she learns quickly, and she has a hidden talent for acting – and healing – that will come to the fore when she sets out to right past wrongs.

Fardan: Libra, The Scales. Charming, argumentative, judgmental flirt! He has the solution to everything, and even if it sounds bonkers, you’ll find yourself going along with it. You can argue with him till you’re hoarse, but one smile and your heart will flip. Frustratingly cute, but you can trust him with your secrets and your heart.

Imshan Khan: Scorpio, The Scorpion. Brilliant and intense, his outward calm hides a passionate and possessive nature. Alternately hot and cold, tender and cruel, he finds it difficult to trust. Has never said anything meaninglessly nice to anyone. Does not accept anything less than total surrender. Betray him at your risk.

NIGHT OF THE RAVEN, DAWN OF THE DOVE
18 October 2022

A queen’s bodyguard struggles against her unwitting role as a major pawn in the political games of a monster-filled land on the brink of war. (On sale for only $2.99 as a part of a Kindle Monthly Deal this September! If you fancy a fantasy with monsters set in medieval India and can’t afford the hardcover, this is an excellent time to get it. Price across all e-retailers.)

Katyani: Sagittarius, the Archer. Our bodyguard is brave, loyal, independent, impulsive, brash, and flirtatious. Discreet and diplomatic she is not. But if you can win her friendship, she’ll stand with you till the end of the world. Can’t tell a lie to save her life. Enjoys kissing.

Daksh: Taurus, the Bull. Does not know what hit him but is determined to find out. Quietly, immovably stubborn about what he believes is right, and fiercely protective of those he cares about. Excellent with a sword, truly the best man to have by your side when confronted with monsters, human and otherwise. It may take a while to find out what he’s feeling, but once he knows his heart, he won’t let anything get in his way – certainly not your weak objections. Good kisser.

MARKSWOMAN (2018) and MAHIMATA (2019)

An order of magical-knife wielding female assassins brings both peace and chaos to their post-apocalyptic world in this blend of science fiction and epic fantasy. 🙂

Kyra: On the cusp between Scorpio and Sagittarius. Strong and passionate, fiery and rebellious, generous to a fault. Will fight to the death for what is right. Doesn’t, however, always know what is right, but then, who does? What matters is that she tries, oh so very hard.

Rustan: Leo, The Lion. Chivalrous, gallant, proud, and protective. Don’t ever tell him what to do, and don’t dream of trying to make him jealous. He knows his worth, and you should know it too. A shining light in a dark world, that’s him. Will never bend, not even if he breaks.

Well, that was fun! And it reminded me how much I love my characters, flawed though they may be. I don’t play favorites, but if you’ve read my books, which one is yours?
